ping - Subdomain can't be reached -
i've asked client create subdomain domain. sent me small screenshot showing following:
subdomain | 3600 | in | ns | domain.1.to.point.to.com subdomain | 3600 | in | ns | domain.2.to.point.to.com subdomain | 3600 | in | ns | domain.3.to.point.to.com subdomain | 3600 | in | ns | domain.4.to.point.to.com
that 3 days ago. still can't access subdomain either ping or normal browsing. other odd thing can't ping client's domain so:
ping domain.com
but can ping:
ping www.domain.com
is normal?
anyway know why subdomain doesn't work?
thanks
it appears need record, not subdomain (ns record) record. subdomain allows control names under *.subdomain.domain.com. example if had subdomain defined:
wufoo.krb.nsw.edu.au. in ns mycontrolled.domain.com.
then mycontrolled.domain.com authority request under wufoo.krb.nsw.edu.au. dns client looking www.wufoo.krb.nsw.edu.au.
ask mycontrolled.domain.com record.
again, record wufoo.krb.nsw.edu.au should allow connect webserver (assume webserver). i'm not familiar amazon's route53 product. cannot answer unless tell little more setup.
